About Daikanyama Gallery of NFTs

What is Daikanyama?

Meguro-river, famous for its cherry blossoms, is located down Daikanyama.

"Daikanyama" is the name of the area in Shibuya, Tokyo, which is the origin of our creative activities.

We have been in the web industry and design business for many years. It created connections with many traditional artists, - Fine art painters, sculptors, woodblock artists, Manga artists, include digital creators. They are not amateurs but real professionals - but they always had the challenge of "geographical constraints and limitations." Now, with blockchain technology, I am very pleased to be able to deliver their works across the sea, over the mountains, and to the moon.

And I am one of those who have a strong desire to live in a "decentralized" world that is not bound by borders, nationalities or VISA. This is also one of the reasons why I am so attracted to the possibilities of NFTs and blockchain technology.

Who am I?

GM, It's Yoshi. Now I am going to introduce myself.

When I was in my 20s, I started businesses in Japan that included telephone line and mobile distributors, restaurants, and web services for stock traders.

After many failures and several exits, I retired in my 30s.

I used to live in Daikanyama, Tokyo. At that time, "Tomio Koyama Gallery" was nearby, and I used to go there very often. I didn't get to buy any artwork, but I really enjoyed chatting with the curator. (Many works of artists who have now become big names and have gone to the moon were lying around.)

Around the same time, a large bookstore called "Daikanyama Tsutaya" was opened by Muneaki Masuda, a businessman. There are many people with high sensitivity, dreams, and full of self-confidence at the bookstore. I love it there because it's such an exciting space.

I believe that Muneaki Masuda wanted to create a “salon-like place where culture and culture, people and people intersect, and something exciting and new is born.” If he tries to do that, he will not succeed in a profit-only-seeking corporate organization. In other words, as long as they are a listed company, they have to listen to the opinions of their shareholders, which makes it difficult to achieve his dreams. Finally, he chose to delist through MBO.

I resonated with the story and was drawn to the positive vibes of the place, so I went there almost every day. Luckily it was open until 2am at the time, so I spent a lot of time there. (That I was a shareholder in this company at the time is another story)

From around this time, the attitude of pursuing profits and numbers "only" began to look uncool.

I began to value “sexiness of process,” “beauty of blank space,” “precise timing,” “style,” and “story and continuity.”

I'll replace it with my almost morbid hobby of fly fishing. It's not enough just to catch a lot of fish. Just catching big fish is not enough. Numbers don't matter. Size doesn't matter. It requires the elements listed above.

These have big influence on my taste in NFT art too.

I have now moved from Japan to US. I would like to have bases in Europe and Oceania in the near future. Because trout live there. As I mentioned earlier, I’m one of those who have strong desire to live in "decentralized" world that is not bound by borders, nationalities or visa. This is one of the reason why I’m so attracted to the NFTs.

I'm not good at socializing and I can't fit in well with society, so I want to shut myself up in nice places and my room (that is, Web3) around the world. I'm not a so-called super rich, but I believe that if I have the "talent to devote myself to what I like" and "NFT space", it will not be difficult.

Fortunately, we are free to choose our own life.

What we do

I am a collector of NFT artworks.

And Daikanyama Gallery offers original NFT works created by various professional artists. They are unique digital collections that exist on the Ethereum blockchain. All artworks we collaborate with are one-of-a-kind. Nao Yoshihara, Dandy Bikeman, ayaka nakamura, Moji Diske, and Sakura Mori are exclusive artists who belong to our gallery. - I really don't like the expression "belong". That's why I use the word "guild". -

From the perspective of collector protection, we hate diluting the value of our artworks and act as follows:

・We do not operate the data sold on the blockchain elsewhere.

・Currently, we focus on only Ethereum blockchain to mint NFTs.

・ If there are soaring gas prices, diversification of needs, or changes in the market, we will consider selling on blockchains other than Ethereum.

・Please be aware that there is a fake account on Twitter claiming to be Daikanyama Gallery. My account is @DaikanyamaG
